1.
Matthew Stafford · Quarterback
Anytime you have a chance to draft a franchise QB, you must. OT could also be a possibility, but they could find one with Dallas' pick later on this round. There are some Mocks that have them selecting a OT with the first overall selection. I do not see this happening. None of the OT prospects in this draft have a grade as high as Jake Long. I believe that need to begin the rebuilding process with a franchise quarterback, the same way the Falcons did last year.
2.
Jason Smith · Offensive Tackle
![]()
In this years draft you can take the top two OT prospects, put their name in a bag and draw one out for a team to draft. That's how close it is between Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe, who have pushed themselves ahead of all other OT's. The Rams should go no other direction than OT. I'm giving Smith the nod over Monroe because of his upside and athletic ability.
3.
Aaron Curry · Outside Linebacker
The Chiefs are now in an easier situation. They acquired Matt Cassel from the Patriots and now can focus their attention towards defense. Aaron Curry is the highest rated player on the big board. He would fit perfectly in the 4-3 or if the Chiefs switch to 3-4, he would work perfectly there as well.
4.

Michael Crabtree · Wide Receiver
I have been back and forth on this pick for a while. The Seahawks are in a position to win now. Some people argue that OT is their biggest need, and while that may be true I think that Michael Crabtree might make the most sense. If Walter Jones is healthy, than OT can be a position to draft later. They wouldn't spend that much money for someone who is going to ride the bench
5.
Brian Orakpo · Defensive End
Previously, Malcolm Jenkins was listed here. Jenkins, however, ran very slow at he combine. While his numbers will probably improve at his proday, I think the Browns might give new Head Coach Eric Mangini more help in the front 7. Orakpo looked real good at the combine and can play with his hand in the ground or give Kamerion Wimbley some help opposite of him at OLB
6.
Eugene Monroe · Offensvie Tackle
The Bengals could consider themselves very lucky if this scenario happens. The Bengals main concern is protection for Carson Palmer. They almost have no choice in this situation. Even if Monroe or Smith were both gone I could see them trading down, or perhaps going after Andre Smith. I don't think Raji is an option given that they just signed Tank Johnson
7.
Jeremy Maclin · Wide Receiver
Another change for the Raiders. If Crabtree is gone, then the Raiders pick gets interesting. I believe since they signed Khalif Barnes, OT can be addressed later. I think they are going to pick a WR. But the question is, which one? The are rumblings that some in the organization like Heyward-Bey. I still think they go with Maclin knowing that DHB is more of a risker pick. However, with Al Davis anything is possible
8.
Vontae Davis · Cornerback
Tackle should and still be the #1 priority. I think Oher and Smith are still a bit of a reach here. I wouldn't fault the Jags if they did take a flier on Smith though. But, now given that the Broncos have two 1st rd. picks, there is a very high possibility that the Broncos trade up with the Jags to grab Mark Sanchez, and would allow the Jags to still get Davis at #12.
9.
Tyson Jackson · Defensive End
A month ago, Tyson Jackson would not have been a Top 10 pick. But, the more tape I see of him, I think he becomes a perfect fit for the Packers. Even though Raji is still on the board, the need at DE is more pressing. Ryan Pickett is more than adequate at NT and, there is no one opposite Cullen Jenkins. Don't rule out a OLB though, like Maybin or Brown.
10.
Mark Sanchez · Quarterback
There is this thing in the NFL called "The Golden Rule of the NFL" is says unless you have a franchise QB you don't pass one up in the draft. I know that the 49ers are still suffering from Alex Smith, but Shaun Hill is not the man to get you into the playoffs in this league. They could go for some front 7 help here, and grab Aaron Maybin, but since Sanchez is no longer an option for the Chiefs the 49ers can't pass on a QB.
11.

Andre Smith · Offensive Tackle
The Jason Peters trade has shaken up everything. Prior to that trade, it was either a DE or TE at #11. Now, with an extra pick at #28 they can grab their Tackle of the future, and take advantage of a deep DE class later, and target TE in Round 2. The choice now becomes, Smith or Oher. On the field, there are still more question about Michael Oher's game.
12.
BJ Raji · Defensive End
The Broncos draft just got a lot more interesting. There is a good chance they could trade up and get Mark Sanchez, depending on how much they like him. If they stay true with their two picks it still should be defensive minded. If Raji falls to them at 12 the should not hesitate to grab him. But, I'm going to predict that the #12 pick might be used by someon like the Jaguars or 49ers.
13.
Robert Ayers · Defensive End
Realistically, the Redskins should take Michael Oher here. But, this is Daniel Snyder we are talking about, and who knows what they could do. I think Robert Ayers stock is rising right now, and the Redskins don't want to let someone of his talent slip past them. They have absolutely zero help opposite Andre Carter. Neither Reynaldo Wynn or Phillip Daniels are getting the job done. The Redskins could have a potentially lethal D-Line after signing Haynesworth and drafting Ayers. However, there is a high possibility that they make a draft day trade and aquire QB Mark Sanchez.
14.
Malcolm Jenkins · Cornerback
James Laurinaitis has been listed here since version 1.0. Recent rumors have suggested that his stock might have taken a hit as of late. This really isn't a problem that much for the Saints however, because their Secondary was their obvious weak link. Question's about Malcolm Jenkins speed have come up recently and some think he might be more of a FS. Either way the Saints need Secondary help, which Jenkins can provide.
15.
Brian Cushing · Outside Linebacker
The Texans have resolved their DE problems by signing DE Antonio Smith from the Cardinals. Now they can focus on either OLB or S. Louis Delmas is the best S on the board but probably still doesn't warrant a Top 15 pick. So, Brian Cushing seems like a very good pick here. Cushing is a very good football player with high IQ. He can come in and start and give the Texans a very good front 7.
16.
Michael Oher · Offensive Tackle
As of now, LT is still a charger and Darren Sproles has been franchised, so RB is not a Round 1 priority. This puts the Chargers in the scenario of OT or MLB. While RT Jeromey Clary was nothing spectacular, he did start 16 games. I think if they have a shot at Maualuga, they draft him. He starts from day 1, and gives the Chargers added beef and quality in their front 7.
17.
Josh Freeman · Quarterback
The Jets, by signing MLB Bart Scott and acquiring CB Lito Sheppard have taken care of two of their biggest needs. There next item of business is finding a QB. Freeman played in a pro-stlye offense, has a cannon for an arm, and can make plays on the run. However, question must be answered about his instincts and decision making. This pick can either be a great selection, or one that sets them back several years.
18.
(from chicago)
Everrett Brown · Defensive End
This pick, just like their previous 1st round pick should be focused on defense. If they go with Raji at 12, they should go after the next best OLB rush specialist. If they can Brown here it is great value. Some mocks have him going as high as #9. So if they could land Browns speed and athleticism it would be a great acquisition to their defense.
19.
Peria Jerry · Defensive Tackle
I had Percry Harvin listed here the last couple of Mock Drafts, while he is still a possibility, I think they focus on their needs. The Bucs missed out on Albert Haynesworth and lost Jovan Haye via Free Agency. The Bucs desperately need help on their defensive line, and I think Jerry can come in and do that.
20.
(from dallas)
Eben Britton · Offensive Tackle
I can't believe I mocked anything other than OT here. The Lions could use help in all three phases of their defense, but protecting Matt Stafford must be the the 1st order of business, or he will end up similar to David Carr. Britton has great size and strength and is very physical.
21.
Chris Wells · Running Back
The Eagles need to start grooming a young RB to replace Brian Westbrook. While I believe that he has a lot left, the Eagles would love to have a bruising #2 back to compliment Westbrook's style. Wells stock has taken a hit lately, but just put on the game tape from the Fiesta Bowl and look at what he did to a very good Texas defense. The Eagles would love for him to fall here.
22.
William Beatty · Offensive Tackle
In the previous 5 mock draft none of the top OT made it to the Vikings. In this one, they are fortunate to have Beatty fall to them. Ever since the beginning of last year the vikings needed a RT. They didn't address one then, so they must this year. Beatty has good agility and is a very good run blocker. Great on the move when asked to pull or trap.
23.
Clay Matthews · Outside Linebacker
Last year, the Patriots drafted ILB Jarod Mayo and turned out to be a great pick. This year they must get younger and improve the outside since Mike Vrabel is now in Kansas City. Matthews seems like the type of guy to play for the Patriots. He is simply just a good, hard nosed, football player, that can give the LB corps more youth.
24.
Larry English · Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
The Falcons have done a great job rebuilding their franchise. They don't have many holes. They added another offensive weapon in Tony Gonzalez. This means that the Falcons can continue to add to their defense. Adding a guy athletic and versatile like English, can give them another pass rusher to get to the Quarterback. English is also very capable to drop into zone against the pass.
25.
Aaron Maybin · Defensive End/Outside Linebacker
26.The Dolphins could go a couple of directions. I the previous mock draft Alex Mack was listed here. Since then, the Dolphins signed C Jake Grove which will move Samson Satele to G and secure the left side of the line. So, that by default leaves us to a LB. Bill Parcells loves LB, and since Joey Porter is getting older, they could go with the ultra talented Aaron Maybin who will fit perfect with the Dolphins 3-4 scheme.

Rey Maualuga · Middle Linebacker
Entering this off season CB and MLB were the two top priorities. They signed CB Dominique Foxworth and lost MLB Bart Scott, so one would think MLB would be a 1st round focus. I don't think that James Lauriniaitis warrants a 1st round pick right now. Bringing in Moore can help ease the pain of losing Rolle, and he can also provide help in the return game.
27.
Darius Heyward-Bey · Wide Receiver
The Colts are in a unique situation where they can draft best player available. If Jerry falls to them here they will jump all over him. The last DT they drafted was Quinn Pitcock and that didn't work out. They need to bolster the middle of the Defensive line, and Jerry can do just that. If Jerry is gone, look for them to get a WR
28.
(from carolina via philadelphia)
Brandon Pettigrew · Defensive End
In my opinion the trade the Bills made with the Eagles was a win-win situation. Peters was not going to re-sign with them after the 2009 season. By getting a 1st round pick out of the deal, they can get their OT at #11 and grab their pass rusher here at #28. The deal that sent Tony Gonzalez to the Falcons means that the Falcons won't target Pettigrew. So, now the Bills can grab the best TE in the class, and target DE in the 2nd round.
29.
Kenny Britt · Wide Receiver
Giants can draft best player available.I think with the signings of Michale Boley and Chris Canty, they can look to improve either their secondary or WR corps. Previously, I had Percy Harvin listed here. But, given his recent troubles I think they draft Kenny Britt, who resembles Plaxico Burres has a tall red zone target.
30.
DJ Moore · Cornerback
I doubt the Titans go with a WR here since they just signed Nate Washington. Their next option should either be DT or CB. They did sign DT Jovan Haye, he is not a pro-bowler, but enough to let the Titans focus on that position later. I think DJ Moore makes the most sense for them. He is really athletic and can help in the return game as well.
31.
Knowshon Moreno · Running Back
The Cardinals would be ecstatic if Moreno drops this far. While Edgerrian James is still officially in Arizona it's looking more and more that he will have a new team come the season opener. Moreno, assuming James is gone, would compliment Tim Hightower style, and would actually probably start. If Moreno is not available, look for them to go either DE or OLB.
32.
Michael Johnson · Defensive End
The Steelers have two good Defensive Ends in Brent Keisel and Aaron Smith. But, they are 30 and 32 years old respectively. For all previous 12 Mock Drafts I have had an Offensive Lineman listed here, but I don't think that the Steelers can pas up on someone with as much athletic ability and upside as Johnson. Some say he doesn't play ahrd all the time, but I think in that organization and with the players they have, they can get some production from him.
